The 65PHQ 65 mm f/6.4 5-Element APO Astrograph is part of the 65PHQ series of flatfield astrographs, which also includes the 80PHQ, 107PHQ, and 130PHQ models.
Rather than dealing with the hassle of purchasing additional flatteners, calculating back focus, or struggling to achieve the correct distance for your imaging accessories, astrophotographers can effortlessly equip the 65PHQ with any desired imaging accessories, maintain precise focus on their target, and achieve an ideal optical system for their imaging needs.
The 65PHQ stands out for its compact size compared to other PHQ astrographs. With a focal ratio of f/6.4 and a focal length of 416 mm, it diverges from the quadruplet structure seen in other PHQ models by employing a quintuplet design with two ED glasses. This configuration effectively minimizes chromatic and other optical aberrations, resulting in superior performance for astronomical photography. The self-flattening design of the 65PHQ ensures compatibility with even full-frame sensors.
In addition to its optical excellence, the 65PHQ includes a telescopic lens hood, a finely crafted CNC machined and painted tube, and attractive decorative elements. The optical tube assembly (OTA) weighs 2 kg, and the complete package, including tube rings, adds up to 2.8 kg. The 2.5″ rigid focuser features a 360° rotator with scales and a finder base, along with included camera adapters (M68, M54, and M48). Notably, the M48 adapter offers a 2″ female thread for filter attachment.
The 65PHQ is not limited to astrophotography alone, as it is also well-suited for visual observation. It accommodates various diagonals and eyepieces, enabling users to achieve optimal focus. It even allows high-magnification planetary observation with the right eyepiece. The 65PHQ comes with a versatile handle, a 300 mm dovetail plate, and sturdy double tube rings, all in a compact and lightweight form, making it an ideal choice for both viewing and imaging needs.
