Unheated dew shields can only delay the condensation of moisture on the optics, but cannot prevent it in the long run. In most cases, the precipitation occurs in a flash and the night of observation is over. So why not use a dew shield heater?
Astrozap has now combined both – flexible dew shield and heater in one!
The heated flexible dew shield directs the heat directly onto the optics and thus prevents any dew precipitation – guaranteed!
Astrozap offers its dew shields without, with one or with two recesses. This refers to a notch for mounting rails, which on some tubes extend far forward, and another for cable routing for a camera (Hyperstar). You can see whether this model has recesses directly from the product title.
