Large-field refractor with solar filter for mobile observers
Due to its short 460mm focal length, this refractor from the Polaris series is a compact but powerful telescope, which is perfect as a travel telescope – but also allows impressive wide-field observation of star clusters or the Milky Way. The attachable solar filter for daytime observing is a new addition. Together with the stable EQ-3 mount and the aluminium tripod, the set is quickly assembled and dismantled, and fits in the boot of any car.
With its short focal length, the AC 102/460 optic is extremely compact and ideal for wide-field observations: large structures in the night sky, like open star clusters along the Milky Way.
The EQ-3: This equatorial mount provides the opportunity to precisely align scopes with Polaris. The correct pole height or geographical latitude can be set for each observation site. Thanks to fine movements along the right ascension and declination axes, objects can be precisely located, followed and kept within the visual field. A counterweight precisely balances the telescope.
The EQ-3 mount provides a solid base for most smaller and medium-sized scopes and is very well suited to spacewalks through the night sky. The tripod is extendible and a shelf provides space for eyepieces and other accessories.
