Sky-Watcher Skymax 180 PRO OTA is a large-aperture Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope with sharp optics. The Skymax 180 is a serious instrument and an excellent choice for planetary observing and astrophotography due to its long focal length, good contrast and small secondary mirror.
The Sky-Watcher Maksutov-Cassegrains are the ultimate take-anywhere telescopes. They are also ideal if working space is limited. Despite their small dimensions, they pack a powerful punch. Their High-Resolution, diffraction-limited optical systems are multi-coated to maximize contrast and image sharpness.
Its diameter makes it a ‘fast’ yet portable instrument. The Maksutov-Cassegrain system allows a long focal length to be combined with a relatively short OTA length. The central obstruction in the optics is minimal as the small secondary mirror has been directly vacuum deposited onto the meniscus lens. The meniscus lens gives very good contrast – for example ideal for planetary observing. The lens corrects for spherical aberration and its shape reduces chromatic aberration to a minimum. It comes supplied with a mounting plate.
