The WarpAstron WD-17 is a next-generation harmonic mount, developed to offer precision and ease of use in an extremely compact format. Thanks to the combination of a harmonic gear and a Direct Drive Servo motor , this mount guarantees superior performance in terms of guidance, response and silence, without the need for balancing for payloads up to 13.5 kg.
Weighing just 4.3kg , the WD-17 is the ideal solution for the traveling astrophotographer who requires high technology in a lightweight, reliable instrument.
Direct Drive: Overcoming the Belt Drive
Many harmonic mounts available today use a belt drive system , which is subject to loosening and inaccuracy over time. WarpAstron has instead taken a direct approach:
- No strap
- No mechanical games
- Immediate and precise correction
- Zero maintenance from mechanical wear
The mount uses a BLDC motor directly connected to the harmonic gearbox, completely eliminating the belt transmission and thus obtaining a stable, silent and reliable system.
Real payload and smart technology
The WD-17 is designed to carry:
- 13.5 kg without counterweight
- Up to 20 kg with optional M12 rod and counterweights
It includes FRAM memory for saving home coordinates even when the system is off and a built-in GPS system for synchronizing time and position. It is compatible with all popular software thanks to the OnStep platform , with ASCOM, INDI and LX200 support.

The WD-17 uses the same mechanical standard as ZWO mounts , making it fully compatible with:
