The new ZWO ASI 294MC PRO camera has set a new standard of excellence in the world of astrophotography. Whether you are interested in deep space or lunar/planetary/solar astrophotography, with this camera you can work it all. There are not many camera systems that can do what ASI 294 PRO can accomplish.
At the heart of the ZWO ASI 294 is the Sony IMX294 CMOS sensor, which is known for its exceptional light gathering efficiency, low read noise and high resolution. The sensor will record images up to 11 megapixels in Micro 4/3 format. The camera has a dynamic range of 9 to 13 steps depending on the gain setting. The read noise levels can be adjusted between 1.2 and 7.3 electrons, and if you set the gain to 120 DB, you can get almost the full 13-step dynamic range with a read noise of 1.7 electrons.
The Zwo ASI 294 works very well as a deep space camera. The cooled versions will reach temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius below room temperature minimizing thermal noise. You can take images of up to 33 minutes exposure with this camera, but with the low noise images it achieves, exposures of that extreme duration will rarely be necessary. When imaging deep space at full resolution, this camera performs exceptionally well with telescopes from 300 mm to 1,300 mm focal length, for example.
As a planetary camera, no other camera system can surpass the versatility of the ASI 294 .For solar imaging, this camera can record full 11mp video at 19 frames per second and capture the entire Sun at a focal length of 1350mm.
The ASI294 Pro has a 2-stage TEC cooling system to allow very deep cooling (35°C-40°C below ambient).It requires an external power supply to power the cooler .The AC-DC power adapter is not included in this package.

The “back-illuminated” Sony CMOS sensor ensures maximum sensitivity and therefore short exposure times. With just 30 seconds of exposure time and subsequent stacking, you’ll be able to capture faint nebulae and galaxies with this camera – without any active cooling!

- High full-well capacity: even bright stars do not burn anymore, they get a better signal-to-noise ratio.
