The tripod is an often overlooked part of a telescope system. But, if the tripod doesn’t provide sufficient stability, this becomes obvious during observation. By choosing a high-quality tripod, the telescope’s capabilities and the joy of observing can be considerably improved.
This tripod’s light weight and compact size make it the ideal travel companion. However, with a load capacity of 50kg, using it with large mounts and telescopes is no issue.
For improved stability you can use the supplied weight containers. Simply attach these to the tripod legs and fill them with sand or stones, for example.
The ZWO TC40 tripod is a lightweight and sturdy model, equipped with carbon fiber legs, perfect for traveling amateur astronomers. Weighing only 2.3 kg, it can support a maximum load of 50 kg. Its size is small; it measures only 50 cm long when folded. Its top plate has a standard tripod screw thread (3/8″), as well as several attachment points and threaded holes for attaching mounts of different brands such as iOptron, Sky-Watcher or Rainbow Astro.
